Today's contender for the 2018 Best Christmas Mince Pie is...

🎉  ðŸŽŠ LIDL ðŸŽŠ  ðŸŽ‰   ( £1.35 for 6 )

Pastry: Sturdy. Stout. Strong...nice but quite the opponent. The pastry had good colour and is shaped well. Blown out a little from the casing but still looks good! Takes 2 bites to get anywhere near to filling!

Filling: The flavour is good, missing the key boozy tang that we've had on the last few but it's spiced well - quite sweet instead of the warmth you'd expect. A lighter feel and probably safer for little ones.

Presentation: Overall it's a good looking pie, certainly for the price point. It raises an eyebrow and stands well against the competition BUT it's in dire need of a cup of tea.

Summary: A firm pie.

NEXT TIME...A second chance for Sainsbury's.
